Serdang, 7 May 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing open science through the launch of the Open Science Month Program, officiated today at the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS). Held under the theme Open Science For All, the program brought together academics, students, and researchers to foster a deeper understanding and adoption of open science practices within the university.
The initiative highlights the importance of research data sharing, open access publishing, and inclusive scientific collaboration. A key milestone introduced during the event is the PutraRDRepo, UPM’s official digital research data repository. The platform enables systematic management, storage, and sharing of research data, promoting a culture of openness, improving accessibility, encouraging data reuse, and accelerating innovation through stronger collaborations between researchers, industry, and society.
PSAS continues to play a strategic role in driving the open science agenda by offering information resources, training, and capacity building in sustainable research data management. Complementing this effort, the UPM Institutional Repository (UPM IR) provides online access to theses, research reports, and other scholarly materials, further supporting UPM’s mission of impactful and accessible research.
This program reflects UPM’s ongoing efforts to enhance the visibility and impact of its research, in line with the university’s aspirations toward excellence in open and sustainable knowledge.
