SERDANG, 27 JULY – A total of 48 newly appointed academic officers and Management and Professional staff were taken on a visit to the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), UPM, as part of the “Putra Heritage Tour” organised by the UPM Registrar’s Office. The programme is a new module within the “Mind Transformation Programme”, which adopts an experiential learning approach.

The visit featured a briefing and guided tour that introduced participants to the University’s history, culture, values and heritage, as well as to the role of PSAS as a knowledge centre that supports teaching, learning and research activities at the University.

Participants were also taken to the Serdang Tree located beside the PSAS building. The tree is a symbol of UPM’s heritage and was planted by the Chancellor of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia to mark the arrival of His Royal Highness on 23 February 1974.

Programmes such as this are expected to encourage the UPM community to make greater use of PSAS resources and services and to foster appreciation of the University’s history and heritage.

Participants attended a briefing by Encik Mohd Dasuki Sahak, Assistant Chief Librarian, Staff Organisational Development and Competency Section, on the facilities, services and digital resources available at PSAS.
