SERDANG, 26 February 2025 – Sultan Abdul Samad Library, in collaboration with the School of Graduate Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized its first webinar titled Mastering Chapter 1: Building A Solid Foundation For Your Thesis. This webinar was specially held for UPM postgraduate students on 26 February 2025 (Wednesday), from 2.00 to 5.00 PM via the Zoom Meetings platform.

A total of 198 participants from various UPM postgraduate programs attended this meaningful session. The main objective of the webinar was to provide students with exposure and guidance on how to build a strong foundation in writing Chapter 1 of their thesis.

According to the speaker, Dr. Syafila binti Kamarudin, “The first chapter is part of the fundamental structure that will determine the direction of the entire thesis. Therefore, it is important for students to thoroughly understand how to introduce the research topic, establish research objectives, and properly organize the background.”

The session also provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share their experiences regarding the thesis writing process, as well as to explore techniques to ensure that their research progresses smoothly and systematically.

This webinar is part of the ongoing efforts by Sultan Abdul Samad Library and the School of Graduate Studies, UPM, to support postgraduate students in achieving success in their thesis writing and to enhance the research skills required in the academic world.
