SERDANG, 30 July 2025 – The Sultan Abdul Samad Library, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized a webinar titled “Utilising AI DeepSeek for Systematic Literature Review (SLR) Article Writing”, delivered by Dr. Hayrol Azril Mohammed Shaffril, Senior Research Officer at the Institute for Social Science Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Dr. Hayrol is highly experienced in research methodology and scholarly writing.

This webinar was the result of a strategic collaboration between the Reference Division and the Corporate & Training Support Division of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library. Initially targeting 100 participants, the programme surpassed expectations with an impressive 357 attendees, comprising 157 UPM staff, 174 students, and 26 external participants.

Held online via Google Meet from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., the session reflected the growing interest and demand among the academic community to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) tools into scholarly writing practices.

Throughout the session, Dr. Hayrol shared effective techniques and approaches for writing SLR articles using AI, particularly through the DeepSeek platform, which helps accelerate the writing process, streamline data analysis, and enhance the overall quality of academic outputs.

Dr. Hayrol’s presentation style was well-received for being relaxed yet structured, with clear explanations supported by real article examples, writing templates, and practical AI prompt demonstrations. The session covered the entire Systematic Literature Review (SLR) process from article searching and data analysis to discussion writing and publication preparation.

This webinar not only introduced participants to the use of AI technologies in academic writing but also boosted their confidence and motivation to apply the newly learned techniques in their own research and publications.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Library extends its sincere appreciation to all participants and hopes to continue organizing similar programmes in the future, with even greater participation from both within and beyond UPM.
