Universiti Putra Malaysia in the process of transformation of telecommunication systems. It is implemented based on constraint factors in the existing conventional telephone system technology such as the age of 30 years of PABX main equipment, the need to replace the copper cable wiring, the manhole enlargement and the difficulty of switching the phone location and taking into account the maturity of the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) The UPM 2017 telecommunication was developed.
This technology known as Unified Communication is far more sophisticated than conventional PABX system which combines and utilizes the latest communication technology hardware that is real-time communication such as telephony, video conferencing, instant messaging with non-real-time communication applications such as e-mail, voice-mail, SMS, Fax-to-Email and capable of implementing various VoIP phone online (eg via Extensible Markup Language (XML) technology.
This project is the latest technology of VOIP phone system which is easier to maintain and if there is an addition or change of user location around the campus. This telecommunications system utilizes and maximizes the utilization of existing network infrastructure (optical cables, wifi and network-switches) throughout the UPM campus.
