The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), continues to strengthen its position as a leading research institution by recording more than 500 Scopus-indexed publications in 2025. This achievement reflects the faculty's commitment to producing high-quality research while fostering international research collaboration in the fields of medicine and health sciences.

To assess the extent of its international research collaboration, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer, a widely recognised tool for visualising scientific collaboration patterns. The analysis focused on the Total Link Strength (TLS) indicator, which measures the strength of collaborative relationships between countries based on co-authored publications indexed in the Scopus database.

The country collaboration analysis, as illustrated in the accompanying table and figure, identified Malaysia as the strongest contributor, recording the highest TLS value of 413. This indicates extensive research collaboration between Malaysian researchers and their international counterparts. Other countries demonstrating strong collaborative ties with FPSK include the United Kingdom (TLS = 126), China (TLS = 110), the United States (TLS = 99), and Australia (TLS = 95).

The findings highlight FPSK's expanding international research collaboration and its active engagement with leading research partners worldwide. By strengthening these collaborative partnerships, the faculty continues to enhance research excellence, increase the global visibility of its scholarly output, and contribute to scientific advancements that address current and emerging challenges in medicine and health sciences.

The publication achievements and international research collaborations identified through this bibliometric analysis underscore the importance of a strong and supportive research ecosystem. In this context, the Medical and Health Sciences Library, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), serves as a strategic partner to researchers by providing access to high-impact information resources, research analytics support, information literacy programmes, and consultation services on scholarly publishing. These services enable researchers to identify collaboration opportunities, enhance the visibility of their research outputs, and expand the global impact of FPSK's scholarly publications.
