Serdang, March 12 - Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS) has held the Majlis Amanat Ketua Pustakawan 2021 and the launching of EKSA PSAS with the theme “Sustaining Library Services in New Norms”.
Chief Librarian, Mr Muzaffar Shah Kasim in his speech presented the achievements for 2020 including key performance indicators, client charter, PTJ revenue generation as well as information delivery initiatives to users during the Movement Control Order. He also informed that in order to provide a conducive environment to users, “Block B Reading Space Upgrading Project” will be continued. The contract to complete this project has already been awarded to the selected contractor and is expected to be completed by July 2021.
Meanwhile, among the new scenarios introduced in the field of librarianship is the Konsortium Sumber Elektronik Pendidikan Tinggi (KONSEPt) which is a collaborative initiative between Bahagian Sitasi dan Infometrik (BSI) and Jawatankuasa Ketua Pustakawan Universiti Awam (JKPUA). It is a platform for sharing scientific information resources in the higher education ecosystem. It is expected to solve the problem of increasing the cost of subscription to electronic resources among Public University libraries.
In line with UPM's Golden Jubilee Celebration in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Universiti Putra Malaysia, PSAS has planned to create a gallery and exhibition with the theme on the history and achievements of UPM. PSAS is also seen as a potential center for collecting UPM's oral history materials. At the end of his speech, he expressed his congratulations and good luck to all PSAS members to continue to support the aspirations of the university despite facing various constraints due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event which was attended by 125 online participants was also graced with the launching session of the Ekosistem Kondusif Sektor Awam (EKSA) PSAS which was also officiated by the Mr Muzaffar Shah Kasim. He hoped that the practice of EKSA could be brilliantly mobilized and seen at the university level. Chairman of the PSAS EKSA Implementation Committee, Puan Morni Yati Ibrahim in her speech also hoped that EKSA practices can help manage a conducive work environment (clean, tidy and safe) while increasing the creativity and productivity of PSAS citizens. EKSA is also indirectly expected to improve service delivery to library users with the appreciation of PSAS staff on EKSA's practices, which is not only to the elements of cleanliness and tidiness alone but also includes aspects of quality, innovation, savings, safety and productivity. The ceremony ended with the presentation of the prize to the winner of the PSAS EKSA Logo Competition, Puan Siti Kairiah Yusof and the presentation of posters to the heads of the PSAS zones as a symbolic of the launch of EKSA at PSAS.
