Serdang, September 10 - Perpustakaan Sultan Abdul Samad (PSAS) celebrates the independence month with the spirit of Patriotisme@Putra through the organization of the Independence Day and Malaysia Day 2021 Celebration Program. Among the program activities that have been organized are the Independence Speech Video by UPM Community, the Jalur Gemilang Waving Competition and the National Day and Malaysia Day Exhibition (https://lib.upm.edu.my/pameran-3710). Meanwhile, on this occasion, PSAS also organized the Independence Talk Program : ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ which was presented by Encik Muhammad Za'im Rosli, Senior Psychology Officer, UPM Counseling Division. He has explored the topic of positive individuals and organizational culture in creating a harmonious and caring work environment especially during pandemic situations. The program has managed to attract a total of 93 participants.

The ceremony then continued with a speech by Mr. Muzaffar Shah Kasim, Chief Librarian. In his speech, he also expressed his gratitude and congratulated the involvement of the PSAS community in the independence month activities organized online. He said, for the younger generation, they should not just assume that Merdeka is free from the grip of colonialism and appreciate it by just chanting Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! In fact, the true meaning of independence for the current generation involves the independence of the soul and mind nurtured through the construction of identity formed through four main aspects, namely religion, morality, education and language. This is because the younger generation faces the threat of colonialism in terms of new forms, especially thinking and culture in line with the rapid pace of technology today. Mr. Muzaffar also invited all participants to join him in the shout of Merdeka! and this was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants.

The highlight of the program was the announcement of the winners for the Jalur Gemilang Waving Competition and was completed by Ms. Haslina Abu Seman@Talib as the Chairman of the Independence Day and Malaysia Day Celebration Program 2021.
