The Information Skill Classes aims to teach and assist users to effectively utilize all facilities, services and information sources offered by the library.
These classes are divided into 3 categories:

Modules offered:
Module 1 : Advanced Literature Search
- Students will be able to identify keywords, synonyms, and related terms for searching relevant information.
- Students will understand and familiarize themselves with the steps in the research process.
- Students will learn about the various types of resources and databases.
- Students will apply search techniques and strategies effectively for both indexed and full-text resources.
Module 2 : Managing References with Mendeley
- Students will be able to add reference information into a Mendeley library using various methods.
- Students will understand how to organize and manage references using Mendeley.
- Students will be able to cite references and create bibliographies with Microsoft Word.
Module 3 : Similarity Checker Tool with Turnitin
- Students will learn how to use Turnitin to check for potential plagiarism in written assignments.
- Students will learn how to interpret Turnitin similarity reports, understand the percentage of text similarity, and identify specific passages that may require citation or revision.
- Students will be aware of the importance of maintaining academic integrity and ethical writing practices.
Module 4 : Scholarly Publishing Guide
- Students will learn how to select the right journal for their research paper.
- Students will be able to identify and avoid predatory publishers.
- Students will learn how to promote their research.
Module 5 : Styling and Formatting with Microsoft Word
- Students will understand the functions of Microsoft Word.
- Students will be able to use Microsoft Word features effectively.
- Students will learn to produce draft templates systematically and efficiently to create high-quality theses.
NOTE: Classes will be conducted both physically (at the Main Library and branch libraries) and online, unless there is a request to hold classes at the faculty.
