DOAB is a community-driven discovery service that indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed open access books and helps users to find trusted open access book publishers. All DOAB services are free of charge and all data is freely available. – over 76,500 academic peer-reviewed books.


2. OAPEN Online library and publication platform

OAPEN promotes and supports the transition to open access for academic books by providing open infrastructure services to stakeholders in scholarly communication. OAPEN work with publishers to build a quality-controlled collection of open access books and provide services for publishers, libraries, and research funders in the areas of hosting, deposit, quality assurance, dissemination, and digital preservation.


3. Cambridge Core Open Access

Cambridge Open Access serves authors and the wider community by publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed content that allows readers to redistribute, re-use and adapt the content in new works. Over 310 OA books.


4. Open Access books on JSTOR

More than 9,000 open access (OA) books from 125+ publishers, including Brill, Cornell University Press, University College of London, and University of California Press, are now available at no cost to libraries or users.


5. Open Textbook Library

Open textbooks are licensed by authors and publishers to be freely used and adapted. Download, edit and distribute them at no cost. Open Textbook Library is supported by the Open Education Network. – over 1,300 OA books.


6. LibreTexts

LibreTexts is developing the next generation of open-access texts. Open. Free. Accessible to all. – over 2,230 OA books.


7. Project Gutenberg: Free eBooks

Project Gutenberg is a library of over 70,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online.
