Serdang, 20 May 2025 – The Tun Seri Lanang Library of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Media, Archive and Preservation Division of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 20 May 2025.

The main objective of the visit was to gain exposure to archival and museum management, preservation of library and archival materials, as well as the digitization processes currently being implemented by UPM Library. This initiative also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and best practices to strengthen the management of documentary heritage and historically valuable reference materials at UKM.

A total of 32 UKM staff participated in the visit, comprising Librarians, Curators, Library Assistants, and Museum Assistants. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the UPM Library management, who also shared various strategic approaches and the latest technologies in the preservation and digitization of scholarly materials.

It is hoped that such visits will foster closer ties between institutions and open up broader opportunities for collaboration in the fields of librarianship and archiving.
