Serdang, 30 May 2025 – The Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), received a valuable book donation from Inv. Cheah Bok Eng, a renowned inventor and holder of the Malaysia Book of Records, with more than 200 registered patents to his name.

The handover ceremony was held at Thinker Space 1.0, Level 4, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, as a gesture of appreciation and knowledge sharing with PSAS. The donated book is one of his published works, featuring a compilation of various inventions and innovative patents developed throughout his career in engineering and technological innovation.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, in collaboration with NXP Malaysia and the IEEE Electronics Packaging Society. It was further enlivened by a Professional Talk titled “Innovation Unleashed – A Conversation with a Remarkable Inventor,” delivered by Inv. Cheah Bok Eng himself.

Through this session, participants gained valuable insights into the journey of innovation, strategies for patent development, and creative approaches to producing novel technological solutions. The sharing session aimed to inspire the university community to further strengthen the culture of research, invention, and innovation.

According to a representative from Sultan Abdul Samad Library, the book contribution is deeply appreciated as it not only enriches the library’s academic collection but also contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of engineering and local innovation.

  “This contribution reflects the spirit of knowledge and expertise sharing between industry   inventors and academic institutions. We believe that works like this will serve as a source of inspiration and reference for students and researchers at UPM,” said the PSAS representative.

The donation not only enhances PSAS’s scholarly collection but also symbolizes UPM’s continuous commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, technological entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer to society.
