Serdang, 27 May 2025 – The Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), proudly welcomed an international academic delegation from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), Thailand. A total of 17 delegates representing various faculties and departments visited the library as part of a strategic academic visit aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and institutional networking.
The delegation comprised senior academic and administrative officials from SSRU, including the Deputy Dean for Planning and Quality Assurance of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, the Director of the Olympic Studies Centre, the Head of the Education Services Section, and the Head of the Planning and Budgeting Section, all from the Faculty of Science and Technology; as well as a Plan and Policy Analyst at the Professional Level and students from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
Professor Soh Kim Geok from the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM, led the visit and played a key role in facilitating the academic collaboration between the two institutions. The programme began with a warm welcome from the library’s management team, followed by a concise briefing highlighting the library’s history, mission and its ongoing digital initiatives designed to support teaching, learning and research excellence. Delegates were then taken on a guided tour of the library’s core facilities, including the General Collection, student discussion rooms, collaborative learning spaces, and Anjung Ilmu, a vibrant open knowledge area popular with library users.
The visit provided an invaluable platform for dialogue, insight exchange and the sharing of best practices in academic library management. Delegates from SSRU expressed their admiration for the library’s modern infrastructure, diverse digital resources and unwavering commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Library remains steadfast in its mission to serve as a knowledge hub and a center of information excellence, aligned with UPM’s vision of becoming a globally reputable university.
