SERDANG, 8 April 2026 – Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized the "Workshop on Keywords Sequence Importance (KSI): Novel Codes for Science and Social Science Quality Theses and Publication." The program aimed to enhance and strengthen research writing capabilities among postgraduate students and lecturers at UPM.

The workshop was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin from the Faculty of Agriculture, UPM. He introduced the Keywords Sequence Importance (KSI) approach, which serves as a systematic writing methodology utilizing the strategic selection and arrangement of keywords as the foundational building blocks for abstracts, introductions, and the overall research framework.

Highlighting the significance of this method, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin stated, “Selecting the right keywords helps researchers establish a sharp focus from the very beginning of their study, resulting in highly structured writing and significantly increasing the chances of manuscript acceptance in high-impact journals.” The session featured illustrative examples, interactive experience-sharing, and real-case discussions to provide participants with a clear understanding of practical KSI applications in academic writing.

Commenting on the benefits of the KSI approach, Dr. Siti Khadijah Abdul Rahman, a senior lecturer from the Department of Land Management, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM, said, "The KSI approach provides clear, actionable guidance on keyword selection, abstract drafting, and writing research introductions. It will undoubtedly add immense value to the supervision of Final Year Projects (FYP), master's theses, and doctoral dissertations."

This program reflects the continuous commitment of PSAS to driving research excellence at UPM by delivering highly relevant and impactful training, thereby reinforcing its role as a key strategic partner for the university's academic community.
